FAQ's
How is the linkage installed?
The linkage kit bolts into the Arctic Cat FasTrack or Yamaha Dual Shock SR 141 rear suspension using existing mounting holes. Removal of the skid is recommended for easier installation. Basic hand tools are all that is needed. See Video for Easy Install
Does this couple the rear suspension?
No, this linkage kit does not couple the rear suspension. Adding this kit creates a more progressive motion of the rear arm and shock improving both stutter bump control and bottoming resistance.
Can I install this linkage on my 2015+ model sled?
Yes, there are minor modifications that need to be made. All parts needed are in kit 73-35-000-A. Product instructions here.
Is off trail performance affected?
No. This linkage improves trail handling while keeping off-trail performance unchanged. Riders report excellent results in both environments.
Why did we make this linkage?
Shock revalving alone didn’t improve ride quality. The suspension movement itself needed to be changed — this linkage solves that.
Will the linkage work with my stock shocks?
Yes, it's compatible with Fox Zero Pro Coil Over, Fox Float, Float 2, and Float 3 rear shocks.
What shock is best with this linkage?
A coil over shock with linear spring rate is best. Fox Zero Pro is ideal. Custom Axis offers the most tunable, high-performance option.
I'm over 300 lbs with gear. Is an air shock okay?
No. We recommend a coil over shock for riders +300 lbs. Air shocks can fail under high pressure. Coil overs offer safer fallback support.
Are other upgrades recommended?
Yes. A Dual Pressure reservoir is ideal for air shocks. Coil overs may need updated spring rates. Learn about Dual Pressure. Select your vehicle here to see more.
Do I have to move the rear cross shaft?
Yes. Move it one window back in the skid. See instructions.
Will this affect weight transfer?
No. If you notice changes, it's likely due to other components like spring rate or damping setup. Use our vehicle selector for tuning help.
My spring rubs on the link rods. Is this normal?
Yes, on some coil overs with barrel-shaped springs. Try rotating the spring or use a new single-rate spring with consistent diameter.
Can I exceed 150 PSI on Fox Float shocks?
Yes. We've tested 200–250 PSI with no failures. 150 PSI is a conservative rating — ride testing has confirmed higher pressures are safe.
Buying tips & common questions:
- With coil overs, buy the linkage kit + matching spring for your weight.
- With air shocks, get the kit with linkage, Dual Pressure reservoir, and pump.
- Use coil overs if you:
- Ride 2-up
- Do high mileage
- Weigh 300+ lbs with gear
- If you don’t monitor air shock pressure often, use coil overs instead.
- Further gains from shock revalving — find your vehicle here.
- Consider a Dual Rate center spring unless you're over 300 lbs — then go single-rate.
- Best performance: Custom Axis shocks. Fully adjustable and race-tested.
